Tekona Reishindo (Monument and Shrine of Tekona)

Worshiped at this shrine is Tekona, the traditional beauty who was the subject of many famous poems in the “Anthology of a Myriad Leaves.”
Because of her ethereal beauty, many men proposed marriage, fighting to win her. Lamenting the proceedings, she is said to have thrown herself into the small bay of Mama.
At the side of the shrine is a pond that leaves the trace of the small bay of Mama, where “single-leaved ditch reeds” related to the folk tale of Tekona are growing.
Tekona is renowned for her ability to fulfill the wishes of those hoping for a smooth child birth and for nurturing healthy children.
A Chinese lantern plant fair held in July is famous.
