Remnants of Sakura Castle, one of the major castles of Japan’s Edo period (1603-1867), are preserved on the grounds of Sakura Castle Ruins Park. Visitors today can see the castle’s fortification walls and dry moats, which are said to be unchanged since Sakura’s heyday as an influential castle town. Sakura Castle Ruins Park is also a great spot to catch a view of the cherry blossoms in spring and the colorful foliage of fall.

 Helpful Tips

The National Museum of Japanese History is located adjacent to Sakura Castle Ruins Park.
