Ichihara Lakeside Museum (Ichihara City Water and Sculpture Hill)

"The Ichihara City Water and Sculpture Hill was opened in November of 1995 as a cultural and tourist center at Lake Takataki, which holds the largest volume of water in Chiba prefecture. Renovation of the facility was commenced in 2011 and it reopened in August of 2013 with the affectionate nickname of the ‘Ichihara Lakeside Museum’.
As well as housing a collection of modern art, the Museum also hosts special exhibitions and displays of crafts, as well as holding art workshops that are enjoyed by adults and children alike.
The site also includes a 28m tall observation tower that is a replica of a Fujiwara type pumping station, and which provides an excellent view of Lake Takataki. In addition, the Italian restaurant ‘Pizzeria Bosso’, where the pizzas are baked in a wood-fired oven using the seasonal ingredients provide by Chiba Prefecture, has proved very popular."
